CO2e Savings of National LPG Expansion Implementation Programme (NLEP) for Clean Cooking in Nigeria
Description:
- Studied the potential of GHG reduction, including analysis of the impact on health and environment, for clean cooking options including LPG in Nigeria
- Developed a National LPG protocol for calculation and quantification of CO2e savings with reference to existing national and international standards and carbon accounting
- Constructed a spreadsheet model to enable calculation of baseline demand and emissions, and calculation of greenhouse gas emissions under different scenarios
- Analysed and produced a baseline business as usual scenario showing current consumptions of each cooking fuel and GHG emissions
- Built the capacity of the NLEP Project Team to establish a system to monitor, quantify, report and verify CO2e emission savings from the increased use of LPG for cooking purposes, taking the exploration of possible climate finance into account
